What is the manufacturing workflow process?

A business process links a requirement to its operational and financial outcome. In SERP by Sybel Micro Solutions, the stages below use separate records and authorized actions. The sequence describes the documented handoffs; it does not imply that every transition runs automatically or that every deployment uses the same entry path.

Follow the business evidence

1. Review item and BOM

Confirm the source requirement and the relevant company, party, item or employee context. Establish who owns the record before asking the next team to act. A clear reference makes the later inquiry easier to verify.

2. Create work order

Review the supporting details and the scope of this step before processing. Use the appropriate document mode and resolve validation messages. A prepared or submitted record is not automatically an approved or completed one.

3. Release and issue material

Check the required permission and any configured review. Preserve the business reason where a decision or exception requires it. The reviewer should be able to identify the source record and understand why the action is appropriate.

4. Record job activity

Record the actual event using the intended transaction context. Check quantities, dates or period information as applicable. Confirm the resulting reference rather than interpreting a button click as proof that processing succeeded.

5. Record production

Review the result in its own inquiry, using the same scope as the source requirement. Investigate differences before continuing. Some workflows offer direct or alternative entry modes, so follow the option that matches the intended business event.

6. Review costing and close

Confirm the final operational or financial result with the authorized role. Where allocation, closure or external acknowledgement is separate, complete and verify that step explicitly. Retain the references needed to explain the outcome.

Control the handoff

Choose a clear completion check for each stage. A goods receipt differs from a supplier invoice, a payment differs from its allocation and a review request differs from release. Use the actual states and inquiries in the relevant module. A single generic status sequence would hide these operational differences.

When an exception occurs, investigate the original record and its history before creating a replacement or retrying a processing action. Review permission, company context and any pending approval. If the workflow communicates externally, establish the provider outcome separately from the local transaction result.

Use this process in a demo

Bring a normal business example and one exception, then follow the sequence with representatives from the teams involved. Ask to see the relevant validation, approval and final inquiry. The objective is to agree the operating procedure and evidence of completion before setting implementation scope.

Follow the records across departments

This process connects Manufacturing, Inventory & Warehousing, Quality Management. Use each module’s inquiry to distinguish a requirement from an action that has actually completed. Retain the original reference when handing work to the next department; a message saying “done” does not explain whether a request, transaction or approval was completed.

A few useful answers

Frequently asked questions

Are these steps fully automatic?

No. The sequence explains related business stages. Separate authorized actions, configuration and review apply; entry paths can vary.

How do we confirm a step is complete?

Check the resulting record or inquiry, including reference, scope and status. Allocation, closure or external acknowledgement may need separate verification.

Which SERP modules are involved?

Manufacturing, Inventory & Warehousing, Quality Management. The related module guides explain their individual records and controls.

What should happen when a handoff is incomplete?

Identify the last confirmed record, its reference and the remaining requirement. Review pending approvals, missing information or mismatched quantities before creating another transaction.

Must every transaction follow every stage?

No. Direct entry, project, service and other variants have their own forms and checks. Confirm the procedure appropriate to the specific transaction.
